About Peter who began his career in the Graphic Arts as a lithographic artist. He has lived in Scotland for most of his life at the Gateway to the Trossachs, now part of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Mountains, Lochs, the change of light and vast open spaces with miles of sky give ideas and inspiration for Peter's vivid and strong art. Now retired from business he enjoys life as a landscape painter. Apart from painting Peter produces fine art prints and cards at his studio in Callander. His paintings are available online and at various outlets in Scotland. Peter’s paintings are in private collections in Europe, Canada, USA and Australia.

"As a contemporary landscape artist, I want my painting to enjoyed, be expressive and inspire the feeling of the landscape.
Painting, like music, can be inspired, have a feeling which tells a story and leaves even more to the imagination.
It’s not what you say it’s what you don’t say!
Is art the same for you? The enjoyment from imagination. Emotion inspired for both the artist and viewer.
Most of my work is acrylic on canvas. Bright strong colour with contrast, painting much of the work with a pallet knife to achieve texture and capture atmosphere and vitality.
The West Coast of Scotland is a big inspiration - I could not envisage running out of subject to paint, the light is different throughout the day. I cannot go there and not want to paint. Scottish painting holidays.
My paintings start with a sketch and numerous photographic reference pictures I take on my "inspirational trips" around Scotland. I paint considering the memory of some scene, possibly the effect of the light, giving mood and colour to the painting.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss or view any new work. Thank you to those of you who have an original of my art in their home."
